Why sweets?
They arrive with a useful collection of shapes: spirals, stripes, stars, soft domes and bright little parcels. Change their scale and they can become a landscape. Add a small task and they can become a character.
Our six scenes follow those possibilities. The journal is not reporting on real places or selling the sweets it depicts. It is a collection of imagined pictures and ways to look at them.

The visual language
Strong outlines, flat colour, print-like dots and exaggerated compositions connect the illustrations. The viewpoints change from an explosive close cover to a deep train journey, a tall orchestra scene and a parcel seen from above.
Your place in the issue
Every picture story ends with a small creative exercise. The flavour finder gathers five choices into one of four routes, then offers a palette and prompt. Its result is an invitation to make something, not a claim about who you are.
Tell us what you noticed
A broken image, an awkward control or a confusing sentence is useful feedback. Send the page name and what happened so the issue can be understood. No account or subscription is needed to read the journal.
